When Kid Icarus: Uprising launches on the 3DS later this month, players will have a chance to get reacquainted with angelic hero Pit, who hasn’t starred in a game since 1991’s Game Boy sequel to his NES classic. And if Nintendo has its way, you’ll be sucked into a world of real-world card collecting once the introductions are over.

When the game is opened, you’ll immediately get six AR cards, drawn randomly from a pool of 20. But wait! There’s more!

There are hundreds of these cards, which spring to life when photographed with the 3DS’ built-in camera. Club Nintendo members can get Great Reaper, Palutena, and Drill Arm cards by visiting a site.

Other cards will be distributed in various gaming magazines (including Game Informer, Nintendo Power, and @Gamer) and at events including WonderCon and PAX East.
