NIS America Brings Updates To Several Games As Well As Announcing 2 New Titles
NIS America has dropped a Prinny-sized bomb of information regarding releases Disgaea 6 and World’s End Club. Not only this, they’ve lifted the lid on two previously unannounced compilation games. Let’s have a look at what’s been going on.
Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny
Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny has been given a release date on Nintendo Switch of 6th July. What’s even better, is that four characters which have made their appearances in previous entries: Adell, Rozalin, Girl Laharl, and Asagi will be available as post launch content.
Disgaea 6 is shaping up to be as comical, as ridiculous and as over the top as the rest of the series. While the plot and characters never take themselves seriously, there is a deep and rich battle system that makes the games a joy to play.
It’s great we finally have a release date for Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny. The first, fourth and fifth instalments are already available on the Switch and if the strategy RPG is a hit, hopefully this gives NIS America the gusto to remaster numbers two and three!
Prinny Presents NIS Classics Volume 1
Prinny Presents NIS Classics Volume 1 brings together two strategy RPGs; Phantom Brave and Soul Nomad & the World Eater into one collection. This will release at some point during summer for the Nintendo Switch.
Phantom Brave: The Hermuda Triangle Remastered originally released in 2004 on the Wii, PSP & PlayStation 2. You play as Marona a 13 year old living on a remote island known as Phantom Isle. She has to investigate a mysterious evil that took her parents’ lives and try to stop it spreading. When you’re not exploring, battles are carried out on an isometric grid, as you would expect with S-RPGs.
Soul Nomad & the World Eater is another S-RPG from the PS2 era. This released in 2008 in Europe, well into the PS3’s life so the game has more of a cult following. In Soul Nomad, you build up armies to take on powerful enemies known as the World Eaters with the goal of stopping them from destroying the entire planet.
The two game collection has a lot of story and content to get through. Each game could easily take up 30 hours of your time, so if you’re in the market for some well received RPGs, this one to look out for. A deluxe edition for Prinny Presents NIS Classics Volume 1 will also be made available.
The Silver Case 2425
Continuing the drive of re-releasing games from the past, NIS America have announced they are bringing SUDA51’s two investigatory visual novels The Silver Case & The Silver Case 25th Ward to the Nintendo Switch in one package – The Silver Case 2425 which releases on 9th July in the UK/EU.
Originally released in 1999 and the follow up in 2005, these are some of the first games for Grasshopper Manufacture (the team behind No More Heroes). These strange visual novels will have you investigating brutal murders and solving strange puzzles.
We’ve played The Silver Case 25th Ward when it was re-released on the PS4 back in 2015, and to say it is strange is an understatement. We can’t delve too much into the story because it we’ll quickly find ourselves in spoiler territory but if you’re a fan of visual novels, it’s one to check out. There’s also going to be a lovely collectors edition which features:
- The Silver Case 2425 for Nintendo Switch
- “The Artwork of The Silver Case 2425” Hardcover Art Book
- The Silver Case 2425 Complete Soundtrack
- Red, Blue, and Green Comic
- The Silver Case Original Comic
- Kill the Past x Kill the Life Poster
- Collector’s Box
World’s End Club
When World’s End Club was announced as part of the last Nintendo Direct, there was a teaser trailer and a release date set for 28th May. The latest video is a full trailer that gives more details about the hybrid visual novel / platformer.
The cutesy anime style game looks charming enough but we’re two trailers in and only have a brief overview of the game so it’s hard to judge how this will turn out.
Trails of Cold Steel IV
In a surprise announcement, NIS America has confirmed that the RPG will launch on PC via Steam on the 9th April. We’ve known it was coming since the original announcement but never had a confirmed release date.
