Monster Hunter Updates

Capcom have hosted a Monster Hunter Digital Event today detailing updates for their two up and coming games. We’ve embedded the video above that goes into extreme detail about the game’s story and mechanics.

Ahead of the it’s release on the 26th March, there will be a second, timed demo for Monster Hunter Rise on the Nintendo Switch. Alongside the four missions available in January’s demo, there will be an increased difficulty as players face off against series stalwart Magnamalo.

New details for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin confirmed that there will be 3 amiibo released in conjunction with the game, as well as the small matter of the release date; 9th July 2021. Previously announced as a Switch exclusive, the game will appear on PC.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will have a full story and game mechanic reveal after the release of Rise so that Capcom can give their full attention to the game.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 Comes To PS5 & Series X|S

One of the best Sniper based video games is coming to PC, PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X|S with Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2. Releasing on 4th June 2021 the game gives you 5 sandbox locations for you to take out your targets. How you approach each mission is down to you, with the game rewarding players for multiple playstyles.

The game will also release on older hardware but with the next generation of consoles you’ll have access to faster loading times as well as 4K native resolution, great for seeing all of those kills in gory detail. As a bonus, the publisher CI games are releasing this as a physical edition, which is always nice. The trailer is age-gated on YouTube so we can’t embed it but below is the link if you want to check it out.

Pokémon Go Incense Day Features Beldum

Pokémon Go‘s latest non-community day, but actually community day has been announced by Niantic. On 14th March at 11.00-17.00 local time, the psychic/steel type Beldum will be appearing when players activate an incense. You may be able to encounter a shiny Beldum during the day and if you evolve the monster all the way to Metagross, it’ll learn Meteor Smash, which was previously only available on it’s community day.

That’s not all! During certain hours, either Phychic or Steel type pokémon will be appearing alongside Beldum. To top it all off, a one-coin box with incense will also be available. We don’t know about you but we’re still working through all of the incense Niantic gave us last year when the world went into lockdown.

Competitive Shooter Rust Comes To Consoles

Millions of players on PC have played Rust since it went into early access on Steam in 2013. Previously announced last year, the online first-person shooter will come to PlayStation 4 & Xbox One sometime in Spring. Rust puts you on a post apocalyptic island where you either befriend some of the 100 other inhabitants to help survive or off-them and go it alone.

The console port is being handled by Double Eleven who are also acting as publishers of the game. Rust looks interesting enough, and Double Eleven have produced games like Minecraft Dungeons so we think it’ll be in great hands. We just need to know more!

Super Nintendo World Japan Gets Opening Date

Nintendo have revealed that the gates on the long gestating theme park in Japan will finally open on the 18th March. Originally scheduled to open in line with the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Universal and Nintendo jointly (and rightly) postponed the opening due to the pandemic. Hopefully the date will stick, but some degree of flexibility is needed as the park could close as cases in Japan are on the rise.

AWAY: The Survival Series Comes to Xbox One

Ever wondered what it’s like to be a sugar glider? Well you can find out when AWAY: The Survival Series comes to Xbox One this year. The game had previously been announced for PC and PS4, but now comes the announcement that developers Breaking Walls is bringing the game to Microsoft’s system.

This short 5-10 hour adventure puts you in the world reclaimed by nature where your tiny sugar glider is on a quest to save his family. Along the way you have to avoid being hunted and solve puzzles as well as tapping up friendlier animals to help along the way. It looks cute as anything and with Breaking Walls being made up of ex-Ubisoft staff, we’re confident this will be an indie hit when AWAY: The Survival Series releases.
