ININ games have announced that their arcade brawler, Clockwork Aquario is being released for both Steam and Xbox consoles after a successful release on Nintendo Switch and PS4 last year. This comes after the Guinness Book of Records awarded the game the title ‘for the longest time between a videogame project start and final release’ after taking almost thirty years to be released.

Clockwork Aquario is a straightforward arcade beat ’em up but with gorgeous, chunky pixel style graphics that was initially conceived back in the early 1990s. Once development by Westone Entertainment was nearly complete the game was unfortunately shelved due to the rise in 3D technology. In 2021 ININ Games and Strictly Limited Games stepped in to tie up the loose ends and give the game to the players.

I’m excited for PC & Xbox players to get their hands on this one. Although Clockwork Aquario is on the short side, the two player mode was an absolute blast, with many playthroughs being carried out over our Christmas break. My full review can be found here.

There’s currently no firm release date for Clockwork Aquario on either Steam or Xbox but we do know these are currently scheduled for digital releases in the Summer months.
