Ghostbusters: Sprits Unleashed Announced By Illfonic Games

Illfonic Games and Sony Columbia are teaming up to bring the next Ghostbusters video game – Ghostbusters: Sprits Unleashed. This will be a 4 vs 1 multiplayer extravaganza following the events after the latest movie Ghostbusters Afterlife and feature the voice talents of both Ernie Hudson & Dan Aykroyd and will release across consoles and PC by the end of 2022.

In Ghostbusters: Sprits Unleashed players will create a team of four new Ghostbuster recruits and set off on a mission around New York City to catch ghosts. This first person shooter has you working as a team to find the ghosts, hit them with streams from the Particle Thrower, and capture them in a trap at the perfect moment.

Before you set off on your mission, you tool up at the famous Hook & Ladder fire station and given your mission by Winston Zeddemore, voiced by Ernie Hudson himself. Dan Aykroyd’s Ray Stantz, is also ready to hand down some busting wisdom at Ray’s Occult Books as he teaches you the types of spooks and spectres you can encounter along the way.

As Ghostbusters: Sprits Unleashed is a 4 vs 1 multiplayer, one player will be working against the Ghostbusters and take the form of a ghost where the aim is to cause as much havoc and disruption as possible. Here you’ll be given the ability to fly and teleport between rifts, possess objects lying around each room and frighten passersby. Don’t forget you can sliming anyone too! By haunting each map to completion as one of multiple Ghosts with different abilities, this will give the Ghostbusters a headache they’d rather forget.

Ghostbusters: Sprits Unleashed is being developed by Illfonic games, and if that name is ringing a bell, it’s because this isn’t their first 4 v 1 multiplayer game, nor is it their first game based on a 1980s movie as they are the team behind Predator Hunting Ground, and along with Colombia Pictures, we’re expecting a great time when the game launches later in the year.

We’ll be bustin’ ghosts in Ghostbusters: Sprits Unleashed during Q4 2022, that’s anytime from October-December on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS4 & Xbox One.
