Nintendo have provided an update for the up and coming sequel to 2017’s Breath of the Wild. Last year, the company announced they were aiming for a release this year, but in a video released by the House of Mario, series producer Eiji Aonuma has confirmed a release will happen in 2023.

It’s not all bad news though as Aonuma-san has confirmed that the release window for the game will be Spring 2023. That puts the game around a year away as spring is typically considered between March and May. Its worth remembering that Breath of the Wild released 3rd March 2017, so it could be possible that the sequel could arrive six years to the day after it’s predecessor.

We’ve embedded the video below, which does give a few more teases to the game, including a look at how Link shoots to the sky as well a brief look at a broken Master Sword, along with the promise that the game will not only take us to the skies but also “beyond”.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel doesn’t have a confirmed name just yet but we’ll be hearing a lot more about it now we have a Spring 2023 release window.
