The Last Worker Gets Launch Trailer & PC Release Date
With the pandemic still running rife, these days it feels like we all live in a dystopian style world that’s been shifted on its axis – though maybe not quite to the same degree as Kurt, protagonist of Steam’s upcoming first-person narrative driven game The Last Worker. Welcome to the automated Jüngle, where cogs and bolts hold a higher value than that of flesh and bone.
Published by Wired Productions, The Last Worker delves into the recurring concept of man vs machine, with writer/director Jörg Tittel and independent games studio Wolf & Wood guiding us through their beautifully oppressive world.
Set in Jüngle Fulfillment Center 1, The Last Worker boasts a stunning hand-crafted art style in collaboration with British comic artist Michael McMahon (a style gorgeously reminiscent of the Borderlands series), and follows leading man Kurt as he attempts to navigate an increasingly automated world where robotic proficiency is rapidly replacing human competence. In the launch trailer, we see a beautiful corporate setting with bright colours and futuristic type tools used to complete tasks and puzzles, all encompassed under an overly ostentatious banner of “One Big Family”… but with sinister undertones and a smiling CEO the likes of which the gaming world hasn’t seen since Handsome Jack, something tells me our high-tech gadgets will double up as rather appropriate weaponry before long.
The gameplay looks immersive and fun, and with an emotional, story-driven experience delivered by a star-studded cast of Voice Actors including Jason Issacs (Harry Potter), Clare-Hope Ashitey (Children of Men), and Tommy Earl Jenkins (Death Stranding), The Last Worker is shaping up to be a griping and provocative gaming adventure that you won’t want to miss.
The Last Worker will be available on the 19th of October 2022 on Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG, with a later date to be confirmed if you’re wanting to snap it up on consoles and VR. You can keep up to date with the latest news via Steam, add it to your Steam Wishlist, or visit the official website.
And just remember; Customer satisfaction, no matter the price!
