The second season of SNK’s brawler King of Fighters XV kicks off today with Shingo Yabuki joining the roster. Bottled with this new season pass comes tweaks and changes to the rest of the line-up and the unveiling of three additional characters.

With a steep learning curve that means it’s not as accessible as games like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat, KoF has calved it’s own niche in the market and since it’s release last year King of Fighters XV on PlayStation, Xbox and PC, the game has become a hit with dedicated fighting enthusiasts. This is partly due to SNK’s constant work in building a balance between each of the brawlers found within.

As season 2 kicks off, players get to meet Shingo Yabuki, a young man who became empassioned by Kyo Kusanagi’s strength and all but forced him to become his martial arts master. In addition to Shingo, SNK have announced the next DLC characters that are going to make an appearance in the KOF XV throughout the year. Kim Kaphwan is next up and is scheduled for a spring release. Sylvie Paula Paula, and Najd will show up during summer, with the final two fighters rounding out the line-up later in 2023. A season pass is available from each platform’s digital store front.

On top of the new characters, additional tweaks to the line-up will be implemented as well as 15 staff roll songs from previous KOF titles will be added free of charge. Players are able to find these in the King of Fighters XV DJ STATION. Players can customise the music during their matches with their favourite songs from the franchise, with more songs due to be added in the future.

King of Fighters XV is out now for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and Xbox One.
