Zelda Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom Get Switch 2 Upgrades

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will get their own Switch 2 Editions when the console launches on 5th June 2025. These ‘upgrade packs’ are set to improve both games with 4K and HDR graphics, reworked visuals and improved frame rates to provide a smoother experience.
The upgrades to both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom don’t stop at improved visuals and gameplay. The upgrade pack also unlocks the unique Zelda Notes contained within the Nintendo Switch mobile app. It is designed to help players navigate Hyrule and track down hidden shrines and Korok locations.
On top of this, Zelda will fill Link in with additional lore from around the huge open world. Players can hunt down these additional memories by using the mobile app’s built in map.
With Tears of the Kingdom, the additional package finally lets gamers share their own autobuild creations with the rest of the community. Players can use the Zelda Notes app to search for creations, or they can scour social media for QR codes.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Switch 2 upgrades will be available from 5th June 2025. Players who own the game can buy the upgrade pack separately or claim them as part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass benefit. New players can pick up a physical copy of either game for the Switch 2. The physical cartridge contains the base Switch 1 game plus a code for the upgraded version.
