IO Interactive and Square Enix have released more information about the fifth entry into the Hitman series, titled Absolution. Absolution follows much loved Agent 47, his usual cold-blooded self, taking on more contracts. Constantly being hunted by police and betrayed, following on from the previous titles, he enters a new conspiracy through a corrupt world. Agent 47 still continually searching for the truth. IO interactive are keen to show off their Glacier 2 Technology featuring an all encompassing cinematic story and distinctive art work and design. New features have also been disclosed.

So, what has been said? The AI in Absolution will be developed based on an intelligence spectrum, setting it apart from games of the same genre. AI characters respond to changes in the environment and adjust to players own  movements – each have their own reactions. AI will be triggered by sight, sound and environment – the new Analogue Awareness System. This makes for more suspense in the Hitman series, not that there wasn’t enough!

Freedom of choice has and is still always apparent in Hitman games, Agent 47 will continue to observe people and discover personal stories from each detailed character before taking a person down-town. There is always a choice for each action.

Another new feature will be called Instinct; it enables players to see the world through Agent 47’s eyes. It shows his expectations of enemy movement, ways of escaping, weapons that are usable and shortcuts (basically, an easier way of playing – Hitman being a difficult series). Impersonations rear their head again, even taking on a new personality.

Disguises will still be included as a central feature but this has been further developed. Players can impersonate victims and to blend into any environment, the range of disguises has been expanded.

Lastly (cause they gave away a lot) Absolution will have the best environment to date. Rich and detailed environments complimenting the new characters, not only this but IO, using Glacier 2, have created environments and characters that have realistic human behaviours.
