Nintendo Confirms Closure Dates For 3DS And Wii U Services

Nintendo has confirmed that the online services for the 3DS and Wii U will be 8 April 2024 and will apply to all software, with the exception of Pokémon Bank, which will end at a later date.

Nintendo Announces Closure of 3DS & WiiU eShops

Nintendo have confirmed they are discontinuing the 3DS and WiiU eShops from 2023. You’ll still be able to redownload software and patches you’ve previously purchased but all demos, free trails, free-to-play games, and sales of software will cease.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate given a release date

TANK3_WiiU TitleSheet Capcom announced that Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be simultaneously releasing on the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS from 22nd March by either physical or digital copies for either game. A free playable demo on both systems will be available on 21st February.

First official images of Pokémon X & Y starters

xy_starter_types_en Last week Nintendo announced the latest generation of pocket monsters in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y for the Nintendo 3DS. We were introduced to the new starters: Chespin the Grass Type, Fennekin the Fire Type and Froakie the water type. There were also two legendary monsters showcased in the trailer, who have also been given titles and statistics. We have the first artwork for these new games, which will be launching worldwide October 2013.

Recently we have been treated to Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings being lovingly recreated using the popular child’s toy. DC Comics have also had success with Batman and friends in last year’s LEGO Batman 2 DC Heroes. They have attracted so much attention that Disney thought it was time to weigh in and today, Marvel along with the LEGO group and TT Games announce LEGO Marvel Super Heroes for all formats.

Pokémon X & Pokémon Y announced

hero2 Nintendo have announced via their Nintendo Direct video streams the latest set of Pokémon games to come to gamers. Shifting from the Nintendo DS handheld to the 3DS for the first time isn’t the only changes we will see for this generation. Satoru Iwata has announced the new titles Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will incorporate all of the 3DS’s features.

Nintendo are truly embracing the DLC bandwagon, that I for one hate. With any luck, Nintendo do what Nintendo always have done – create quality games and then also create quality DLC, unlike many other developers out there who fix broken games with broken patches. Either way, Nintendo UK have today released a new video of a Direct Mini for the New Super Mario Bros DLC. In classic Nintendo style, the head of the company is a Mii and is talking to you.

Monster Hunter 3

Capcom have exclusively announced that Monster Hunter 3 will be coming to Europe in March 2013. What we do know is that a 3DS version will release on the same day. The save data will be interchangeable between consoles. Much like how the Vita and PlayStation 3 interact. However it appears that Nintendo are keen to get the ball rolling within the console specified launch window.
