Rocksteady and Warner Bros Games have released a launch trailer ahead of the Batman: Arkham Trilogy on Friday. As the name suggests, it compiles the three Arkham games developed by Rocksteady and presents them with all the previously released DLC for the Nintendo Switch.

The set includes Batman Arkham Asylum, Batman Arkham City and Batman Arkham Knight in it’s entirety. Players will also get first dibs on the Batman suit seen in the 2022 film of the same name. This is only a timed exclusive though and will eventually make its way to other platforms at a later date.

DC’s “Arkhamverse” began in 2009 with the release of Arkham Asylum. At the time it was considered a uniquely atmospheric adventure that married Batman’s gothic aesthetic with brilliant action-adventure mechanics. Set over the course of one night, players confront The Joker along with Gotham City’s most notorious villains, including Harley Quinn, Bane, Killer Croc, Poison Ivy, and Scarecrow, who have manged to take the asylum.

The follow up in 2011, Batman: Arkham City, raised the stakes even further, with Batman having a whole city to explore and capture a myriad of villains and thugs. The Joker, The Riddler, Two-Face, Harley Quinn, The Penguin all return along with Mr. Freeze, and Catwoman.

Batman: Arkham Knight rounds out the trilogy and is a fitting finale to Rocksteady’s work on the series. Gotham City is now a massive open world in which Batman can drive the Batmobile to various locations to chase down the Scarecrow and the titled Arkham Knight. Arkham Knight makes his debut in DC’s Batman Universe, and is again joined by a regular cast of villains including Harley Quinn, The Penguin, Two-Face and Firefly. To help with the city-wide threat, and even the odds, Batman also has allies in the form of Robin, Nightwing and Batgirl.

While we can wholeheartedly recommend each game on its own merits, it remains to be seen how the Switch will handle Batman’s adventures. Arkham Knight famously skipped the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U owing to the Batmobile taking up too much memory. It seems that almost 10 years later, Rocksteady and Turn Me Up Games have worked away around this. From the look of the trailer though, it does seem that the games will hold up well on Nintendo’s hybrid machine.

Batman: Arkham Trilogy will be available on Switch from 1st December.
