We thought we were bad when the site didn’t get updated for 8 years. However, not one to be outdone, Sony have updated the PlayStation 3 with a new firmware update.

It seems that the update comes to the Blu-ray drive to allow newer discs to be played as well as some stability features. Below are the patch notes released on Sony’s website.

An update to the PlayStation 3 system software was released on 12/03/20. In order to download PS3 system software version 4.87, you will need a minimum 200MB of free space on either the PS3 Hard Disk Drive (System Update) or on removable storage media (PC Update).

Always update your PS3 system to the latest version of the system software. By updating, you can enjoy additional features, improved usability and enhanced security.

We’re fond of the PS3, as it’s one of the first consoles we started reviewing for.

It’s strange that in a time where the PlayStation 5 exists, we’re still writing about it, but I guess 2020 is full of surprises.

Make sure you update your consoles!
