Infinity From Incube8 Games Launches On Kickstarter, Already Smashes Funding Goal
Infinity is a tactical RPG that was originally in development for the Game Boy Color some 20 years ago before fading into obscurity. Fast forward to 2021, and Incube8 Games – the publishing subsidiary of Retro Modding have picked up the rights to this intriguing game and is looking to finish the game via crowdfunding and has launched a Kickstarter campaign today.
And in just the first few hours, has smashed the £9000 goal and is currently sitting at £66,000. Needless to say, there is a thirst for GBC games and this one is finally getting made, and after a successful few hours, stretch goals have been promised.
Infinity is Strategy-RPG where the story revolves around an ancient, nameless evil stirs beneath the earth, twisting the land and its people alike with its corrupting force. Two rival nations careen toward war, as a shadowy figure arms them both with unholy weapons of immense power. And a disgraced knight is called upon to overcome the centuries-old pain that divides these peoples, his own grief, and malevolent forces fanning the flames of hate. For a Game Boy Color title it is going to be huge, offering around 50 areas and up to 20 hours of gameplay.
If you’re interested in becoming a backer on Kickstarter, there are a few different goodies you can chalk up such as a digital ROM copy of the game, soundtrack, and art book. If you plump for one of the higher reward tiers, you can even get a physical working, Game Boy Color cartridge.
After being burned by previous Kickstarter campaigns in the past, we’re typically sceptical about crowdfunding video games, however Retro Modding have been around for a while, doing stellar work for the Game Boy modding community enough for us to put our faith in this one.
