Max Payne 3 Multiplayer Emergence
Rockstar’s lead designer who is currently working on eagerly anticipated shooter Max Payne 3 has spilt the beans about new multiplayer functions in the game. This is not to say that the narrative element, that runs strong in Both Max Payne 1 and 2 will be lost, hard graft has been put into 3 to make it better than its predecessors. The Third-person shooter will feature elements such as ‘Gang Wars’ in an attempt to produce a narrative-based multiplayer mode involving the mobs that players meet during the single player campaign.
Designers sought to mix up the popular narrative of the games with its multiplayer epxerience, it was seen to be an important part of development so fans could relate to the new addition of the series. This new element means the game becomes more dramatic and dynamic as it unfolds. Drugs deals can be undertaken with one team collecting the booty and the others defending them, it makes for co-operative story telling and a different situation every time.
Rockstar has made sure it keeps getting better though, so, each previous campaign affects the next. New teams can be pin-pointed as challengers and dominant teams can be brought down with bounties upon each of their heads, even if you’ve just carried out a job with them. New territory can then be gained and checked for ‘presents’ left by previous teams.
Comic book visuals will heavily influence the upcoming title with instructional voice-overs by Max Payne himself. Just to set players on their merry way. Completing jobs gains XP which unlock perks, such as Payne’s bullet time manoeuvres.
Max Payne 3 is to be released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in March 2012.
