Its the first of the month which means Microsoft are giving away free games to all Xbox Live Gold & Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. This month there is an additional 5th game thrown in as a bonus.

The full line up is:

  • Gears 5 (1st – 28th Feb)
  • Resident Evil (1st – 28th Feb)
  • Indiana Jones and the Emperor’s Tomb (1st Feb – 15th Feb)
  • Lost Planet 2 (16th Feb – 28th Feb)
  • Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition (16th Feb – 28th Feb)

Gears 5 leads the charge this month. The third person bug shooter has had recent optimisations to both the visuals and frame rates for the Series X|S, so there’s no excuse to give this one a miss.

It was inevitable that Resident Evil would make an appearance in some form this month. Resident Evil Village was formally announced to be coming to Microsoft’s consoles at last week’s RE: Event. Players now have the opportunity to check out where the series began 25 years ago.

Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition is a 2D platform/explorer in the same vein as Metroid and Castlevania games. Navigating around the hand crafted pixel-art world of Salt you fight to prevent the world from collapsing into nothingness.

Lost Planet 2 is another third person shooter on the lineup. Released by Capcom in 2010, the game takes you back onto E.D.N. III, 10 years after the original. It’s not the best in the Lost Planet trilogy but it has a lengthy single player that’ll keep you occupied for around 15 hours.

Another game that was announced to be in development is a new Indiana Jones game from the soon-to-be Mircosoft owned Bethesda. What perfect timing to play the 2003 Indiana Jones and the Emperor’s Tomb from the original Xbox. Sitting on a respectable 73% on metacritic, it might be worth seeing what secrets this 18 year old game holds.

Remember to add them to your library as soon as you can. The games are then yours to keep as long as your subscription lasts. All games play on Xbox One and Series X|S.
