It has been known for a while that Mortal Kombat is coming to PlayStation Vita. Building on the success of the latest console hit, the game transports players back into the world where the letter “K” seems to replaces “C” everywhere you look (See: Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition). The game will show off the Vita’s new functions and bring elements of gameplay not seen in the Kombat series.

Rather than using the touch screen to pull of predetermined moves like on fighting games see on a Nintendo DS, Mortal Kombat for Vita uses it to block projectiles, wipe blood off the screen and to pull of the gruesome finishing moves. Obviously the graphics have been scaled back from the console counterparts but still the look pretty sharp.

Mingames have been included such as a fruit ninja style game where what appears to be body parts are thrown into the air and the player has to chop using the touch screen while avoiding explosives. The highly fun looking Mortal Kombat will be appearing on PlayStation Vita in Spring.
