A new console means a new Mario game, thats a given. What Nintendo announced though is a continuation of the popular New Super Mario Bros franchise. With New Super Mario Bros U it brings Miis to the plate as well as a few other extras…

So New Super Mario Bros U will have 5 players, Mario, Luigi, 2 Toads and a Mii character. Four will use the Wii remotes and the fifth will control the gamepad. The gamepad will show the same action as the TV but will be able add bouncing pads, and hold enemies by using the stylus – the game’s primary focus will be to help each player as they adventure through new levels.

Also confirmed is that New Super Mario Bros U will be a launch title this Christmas
