People who have already bought Resident Evil 6 (illegally it seems) will be kicking themselves as Capcom have announced that the rather swish Leon Jacket package, which was available only in Japan will make a limited run in Europe. When we say limited, we really mean limited. Prepare your wallets, because it also is not cheap. No Sir. We also have details of the first add-on content to be released for the game.

First thing’s first – Leon’s leather jacket. It is a real cowhide leather jacket styled on Leon S Kennedy’s appearance in Resident Evil 6. It is only available in medium and large and the package will include a copy of the game on either the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 and four tablet cases. It is only £899. Yes. One Pound less than Nine Hundred Pounds. NINE HUNDRED!?! It is for serious (and minted) collectors. It is worth noting that they sell the edition in Japan for around £820 give or take the exchange rate. When factoring shipping to the UK, this will bump it up so it is keenly priced. But £900 for a jacket and a game? If you want to buy this bundle it is avaliable from Capcom’s webstore

Moving on to the downloadable content, there will be additional missions on the mercenaries mode and also three new modes of play to be added on. Maps from the downloaded content can also be used in the new modes of play. They support up to 6 players depending on the type of mode selected. Capcom advise that there will be three modes, Survivor, Hunter and Siege.

Survivors Mode takes the classic solo- and team-based versus mode and adds a twist. Get killed and you respawn as an enemy character with the ability to attack the human characters. Take down two human characters to resurrect in human form. Last man or team standing wins.

In Predator Mode, one player takes on the role of the Ustanak, the fearsome B.O.W. that stalks Jake Muller throughout his campaign, and tries to eliminate the human players. The humans’ task: stop the deadly B.O.W. in its tracks, or at least survive until the end of the session.

Choosing the human side in Siege Mode will see players protecting a single NPC, while as a member of the enemy team, players will need to eliminate that same NPC. If the NPC is still alive at the end of the time period, the human team wins.

So Resident Evil 6 is shaping up to being one of the most talked about games of the year, but all we seem to be talking about is the 6 variations of collectors editions rather than the game itself. Hopefully this will all change on 2nd October when Resident Evil 6 is released (officially) into the world on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles as well as the PC.
