Assassin’s Creed III Special Editions & WiiU information
Assassin’s Creed III will have 3 special editions for gamers to choose from when the game launches on 31st October. Ubisoft have confirmed that the 3 editions will be available for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms but no news on any WiiU versions save for the normal edition.
The 3 Assassin’s Creed editions are named as “Freedom Edition,” “Join or Die Edition” & “Special Edition.” The Freedom edition gives a statue of Connor – the new protagonist, an exclusive lithograph and George Washington’s notebook, revealing the secrets of the Assassins and Templars during the American Revolution. It will also include codes to download two additional single-player missions – Lost Mayan Ruins and Ghost of War. Finally the Sharpshooter multiplayer package, featuring new weapons and an extra character.
The Join or Die edition replaces the figure with an assassin medallion as George Washington’s notebook. It also features the Ghost of War and Sharpshooter DLC leaving out the Lost Mayan Ruins content. The Special Edition features an exclusive single-player mission, A Dangerous Secret, which gives players an exclusive weapon, the Flintlock Musket. As far as we can tell, that’s it for the special edition, but no images have surfaced as of yet for this package.
For those who are holding out for the WiiU release may or may not have the collectors editions to wait for, however details (via NintenGen) of how the tablet controller will be used have surfaced. The tablet will be mainly used as a map and some form of the Animus, having the information displayed on the touchscreen rather than interupting the flow of gaming on the main screen. Eagle vision can also be used on the controller with the built in accelerometer.
Weapon changing, and the inventory system will also be packed onto the second screen, such as in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS, making the flow of the game a lot smoother and quicker.
Assassin’s Creed III is due on the Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3 31st October with a WiiU release on or around the console’s launch day.
