Metal Gear Online Take Down

Four years ago, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots arrived for the PlayStation 3 and brought with it Metal Gear Online, a head-to-head multiplayer mode. Today, Konami announced that it’s closing the service.

On June 12, 2012, the servers will be shut off for good, but that’s not the only important date to take note of.

Here’s the official timetable.

• March 21, 2012 16:00 — Closure of MGO Online Shop.
• April 24, 2012 18:00 — Expansion packs and Preset Codec Message Appeal Packs will be available for free download. Registration for new player characters will not be available during this time. Reward shop equipment will be available for free.
• June 12, 2012 23:59 — End of online service.
