Sony has revealed its financial results from April 2011 to March 2012 and they are anything but good.

The Corporation lost  £3.44 billion making Sony’s biggest lost in a decade.

There was a notable decline in Sony’s Gaming department due to a reduction in PS3 sales and a loss in total money made, funnily enough Vita figures haven’t been announced.

Sony sold less PS3 consoles than last year, although this could be due to the August 2011 price cut. Just 13.9 million were sold. Even fewer PS2s were sold with just 4.1 million being taken from the shelves, arguably this could be due to it being a dated console.

PSP sales dipped, losing 1.2 million on last years sales, the lowest in five years – but, again, this can’t be helped by the release of the Vita.

Sony predict that the Vita and PSP next year will make a combined 16 million in sales. The same for PS2 and PS3 combined.

Profit will be expected to reach 30 million yen.
