Ubisoft today have announced that the limbless wonder that is Rayman will miss the 30th November launch date for the Wii U. It instead will be released at the rather vague date of “first quarter 2013.” While this is bad news for day one buyers, the game will still appear in Nintendo’s “Launch Window” which means any point up to the end of March 2013.

While some gamers will obviously be disappointed there is still New Super Mario Bros U and Epic Mickey 2 to keep the platform genre going until Rayman Legends finally sees its release. Ubisoft have told MCV that “We’re happy that fans are excited about the game, and we are taking the time to make sure we deliver a game that lives up to and hopefully exceeds their expectations. We’ll have more details to share soon.”

No official reason for this delay has been given, although one can speculate it has something to do with the NFC communication that allowed figures to be placed upon the Wii U Gamepad that was announced when the game leaked. This then subsequently went missing from the game.
