Capcom have confirmed the long rumoured Resident Evil 4 remake is in development and will release next year. Not only this, but a PlayStation VR 2 mode is also in development.

Originally releasing on the GameCube in 2005, Resident Evil 4 brings back Leon S. Kennedy, and ditches the fixed camera, in this next numbered entry into the survival horror series. RE4 puts players in a third-person perspective as they guide Leon through a village that has been taken over by a mysterious virus. The gameplay focuses more on the action rather than survival horror elements the games were known for up until this point.

The remake will release on 24 March 2023 for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC and follows in the footsteps of Resident Evil 2 and 3 which were rebuilt from the ground up using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine. There will be no PS4 and Xbox One version of the game as Capcom looks to leave the previous generation behind.

The game will also include PlayStation VR2 support. Quite what form this will take is anyone’s guess however with Resident Evil Village receiving a full mode, we’d hazard a guess this will be along the same lines.

Resident Evil 4 (remake) will release on PlayStation 5 Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam on 24 March 2023.
