Our blue Hero has had a fairly eventful 2011, turning 20, appearing in various re-releases such as Sonic CD and for the first time, meeting his past and future self at the same time in Sonic Generations. Just when everyone thought that SEGA had forgotten about Sonic 4 Episode 2, they announce to the world that it’s due out very soon. Not forgetting the lovely new teaser trailer either.

Of course, this trailer shows us nothing, unless that is realising that not only Tails but also Metal Sonic should be making an appearance. No, not Shadow, Metal Sonic – the true evil enemy. One other noteworthy thing is that unfortunately Episode 2 will not be making it’s face known on the WiiWare. So those of us who’ve got Part 1 on the Wii, best buy it on the Xbox Live, PlayStation Network or one of those smart phone platforms.

But no – the reason Episode I was on the Wii was because we wanted to bring the Sonic 4 saga to the widest possible audience. Episode II unfortunately will not be coming to the Wii – for reasons most people have probably guessed, but that doesn’t mean the SEGA isn’t supporting Nintendo platforms, we have a very strong partnership and will continue to do so.

This comes straight from the horses mouth over at SEGA forums, well, Ken Balough the Brand Manager there. What many people have “guessed” at is in relation to the thread he was responding too, which is that the WiiWare has a 40MB size limit and it’s prohibitively too small.

So due to Nintendo’s own short sightedness, no Nintendo love from SEGA.
