Star Wars Hunters A Free To Play Shooter Is Coming Soon To Nintendo Switch & Mobile Devices

Lucasfilms Games have announced Star Wars Hunters, a third-person team multiplayer shooter developed by mobile specialists Zynga. It is coming to Nintendo Switch as well as iOS & Android devices at some point this year and its free to play.

Star Wars Hunters is set after the fall of the Galactic Empire, which puts it after Return of the Jedi and before The Force Awakens.  You can choose from a variety of bounty hunters, members of the Rebellion, as well as an Imperial stormtrooper. We’ve bagsied the Wookie.

There have been no announcements on team sizes, nor any news on maps, weapons or what the purpose of the game is about. We only have the short teaser below. This would suggest that the game will be coming out towards the end of the year.

We’re on the fence about this one as free to play games always employ microtransactions (we know, developers have to make money). The success of the game isn’t guaranteed just because it is a Star Wars game. It’ll be how Star Wars Hunters monetises play.

Star Wars Hunters is due out on iOS, Android and Nintendo Switch later in the year. Oh, and as it’s free to play, you don’t need an active Nintendo Switch Online service to play.
