Super Rare Games continues its quest to preserve video games by offering a couple of indie games in physical format. Next on the list are Jumpship‘s Somerville and Darkstone Digital and DreadXP’s The Mortuary Assistant, both of which will be released on Halloween – 31st October.

The Mortuary Assistant sets players up as an apprentice at River Fields Mortuary aiding the Mortician in daily tasks along with learning the ins and outs of the embalming process as well as how to handle and care for the deceased properly. Not everything as it seems, as the first-person thriller quickly takes a dark turn. The Mortuary Assistant will get 4000 copies on Switch and 2000 on PS5.

Somerville might not be as macabre but the Sci-Fi adventure grounds itself in the intimate repercussions of largescale conflict. In Tom’s review of Somerville (embedded below), he gave the game a respectable 7 out of 10 saying:

I really loved the general feeling of Somerville, the persistent undertone of foreboding created by the mix of the sounds, the look, and the ever-shifting pace from scene to scene.

Somerville will release as a PS5 disc, limited to 2000 copies. Both games will come with a colour manual and the latest version of each title printed on the disc/cart.

Both Somerville and The Mortuary Assistant will be available from the Super Rare Games website on 31st October at 6pm UK Time.
