Legendary publishers Team17 and developers Fika Productions have announced a two-player, couch co-op game Ship of Fools launching 2022 for both PC and consoles. Ship of Fools follows a ragtag group of sailors as they search for treasure while battling sea creatures, an Everlasting Storm and the impending Aquapocalypse.

The rougelite style game sees the two companions battling enemies and sailing through stormy waters to find treasure and escape impending death. While out hunting for that sweet chest of gold, the Fools can find other stranded companions, rescue them and add them to the roster. Here’s the announcement trailer showing off the amazing art style along with how the game is shaping up.

The game is built with co-op in mind, and this can be done either online or locally and as the seas are ever changing, each run will be unique, featuring different treasures and collectables, as well as finding different Fools to join the crew.

Ship of Fools is confirmed for a 2022 release on Steam and consoles, but the specific platforms will be announced at a later date.

The first demo of Ship of Fools will be available at the WASD event which is being held in London between 7th-9th April. We’ll be in attendance so will report back on how this and other games are ship-shaping up. If you’re planning to go down to the event, make sure to follow us on Twitter and if you bump into us, please say Hi!

For now though, check out the lovely screenshots of this swashbuckling (mis)adventure.
