The first charts of the new year brings us a familiar number one as Animal Crossing regains the top spot. Let’s have a look at what else has happened for physical sales in the UK.

It seems that Nintendo are doing well when it comes to selling video games, taking 11 of the top 20 spots. This is likely due to the lack of PS5 and Series X stock in stores over the Christmas period. With gamers turning their attention to the latest hardware, and the older generation of consoles not being replenished, this means fewer sales for the software.

Not all of this is rosey for Nintendo. All games (with the exception of Animal Crossing) dropped their sales week-on-week so the overall sales in the UK as a whole is down.
