Created by Over The Moon Studios, The Last Hero of Nostalgaia tells the simple story of a figure setting off in the world to save it from a rot that has taken hold. This devastating destruction has ravaged the once fully-fledged 3D world and turned it into a flat, pixelated mess. The shining figure that is the game’s hero happens to be a 2D stick figure that has all the personality of, well, a stick person. We don’t know who it is, or why it is the main character in the game, it just is. There’s nothing more I can say on the matter.

VGamingIndies: Vol 4

We don’t need to tell you that there are a lot of video games being released every week and a lot of games simply go under the radar. Indie games in particular are often developed by small teams, usually without a billion dollar corporation behind them and they don't have a chance to shine.

Aka

Aka caught my attention earlier in the year when the chonk of a red panda sprung up on Steam. You see, there are a few things I absolutely lose my mind over -  heavy metal when played in normal places, alliteration, and fat red pandas. Developers Cosmo Gatto settled on the latter point for their latest endeavour and despite already being sold, they pinged across an early Beta build for me to get my paws on.

Splatoon 3

Refill your paint canisters and throw on your freshest gear, because the latest entry in Nintendo’s squad-based (or should that be squid-based?) shooter, Splatoon 3, is here! It’s been five years since the last entry in the franchise, and with a rabid core-fanbase and swathes of casual players returning, it feels like Nintendo have timed their newest release perfectly.

Blossom Tales 2: The Minotaur Prince

Blossom Tales 2: The Minotaur Prince, is the second game in the series released by Playtonic Games. After having enjoyed the first game, I was happy to see that a second game was in development and eagerly anticipated its release. Having, as I do, a love for a well made top-down adventure game (read: “yeah I do love 80’s/90’s Zelda), I was hoping that Playtonic Games had created another fun escapade for me to experience.

Lost In Play

Lost in Play is a 2D cartoon-styled adventure game from Israeli developer Happy Juice Games, in which a brother and sister go on a wild adventure within their own hyper-active imaginations. Released in February on PC and ported to the Switch this August the game is full of charm, character and a great variety of mini-games in a tight four-ish-hour package that, a few minor technical glitches aside, didn’t disappoint.

Product Review: VGamingHoovers

If you have ever read one of our reviews, most end with a little blurb that says we’ve been given a copy of the game in return for a fair and honest review. What you might not know is that sometimes we have to approach publishers and sometimes they come to us asking to try a game they have been working on, and we always try to get games that we think our readers will enjoy learning about. When the team at Hoover got in touch with the site about a product review, I was initially very confused since we a) are a video game site and b) review video games. After a to-and-fro with the team and by being assured that gamers love vacuuming, I somehow ended up with a DPD driver knocking on my door at an ungodly hour to present me with a Hoover HF500STP. Once I unboxed the thing, I had no idea how to frame a relevant review. Then a wave of inspiration hit me.
