The Last Worker Gets Launch Trailer & PC Release Date

With the pandemic still running rife, these days it feels like we all live in a dystopian style world that’s been shifted on its axis – though maybe not quite to the same degree as Kurt, protagonist of Steam’s upcoming first-person narrative driven game The Last Worker. Welcome to the automated Jüngle, where cogs and bolts hold a higher value than that of flesh and bone.

Gamescom 2022: Indie Arena Booth Round-Up

Gamescom is one of the highlights of the gaming calendar - with a host of celebrities breaking news galore and announcing all manner of exciting games. The flagship event held in Cologne, Germany, is a Mecca for developers and publishers to get their games seen - and that goes for AAA and indie teams alike.

SENSEs: Midnight

The second game I reviewed after coming back on staff at VGamingNews was 2.5D 90’s-inspired survival-horror, Sense: A Cyberpunk Ghost Story by Suzaku. While the game had its problems, the roster of antagonists was interesting and the setting showed definite promise, so I jumped at the chance to play SENSEs: Midnight, Suzaku’s follow up title. Sadly, it didn’t take me long to realise that there was very little to connect the two games, and that almost everything I enjoyed about the debut entry was absent from the sequel.

Ikonei Island: An Earthlock Adventure

I haven’t played a ‘build your own community’ game since Harvest Moon was released on the GameCube… so it’s been a minute. As a rule, these kinds of games aren’t for me. While I bow to the popularity of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and the seemingly immortal appeal of Stardew Valley, I have always preferred games that offer a more defined start and finish, and ones that require me to do more than simply make things in my own image. That was before the W.A.S.D. event in London back in May though, where Snowcastle Games were previewing an early build of their new game…

Gamedec

I’ve always been a fan of detective shows. When I was growing up, my dad would watch every cop drama under the sun, and it was a nightly ritual for us to watch one or two together before I went to bed. Whether it’s an eccentric classic like Poirot or the more bombastic Law & Order, I’m an unashamed fan of crime shows, and an even bigger sucker for the games. I ate up Heavy Rain and had fun cruising through Tinseltown in L.A.Noire, so it should come as no surprise that cyberpunk sleuth RPG, Gamedec from Anshar Studios, caught my eye.

VGamingIndies: Vol 3

We don’t need to tell you that there are a lot of video games being released every week and a lot of games simply go under the radar. Indie games in particular are often developed by small teams, usually without a billion dollar corporation behind them and they don't have a chance to shine.

Cult Of The Lamb Edges Closer To Release – Physical Editions Incoming

Devolver Digital is bringing The Cult of the Lamb to the masses in just a few days and is one of most anticipated games. Players will be able to get their hands on this cute/violent adventure game across PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC and as the launch day gets closer, details of how players can get their hands on the physical edition is starting to seep through.

Souldiers

We’ve always been big fans of a metroidvania here in the VGamingNews offices, and we’ve been seriously stoked about Souldiers after since we got our hands on a demo at this year’s W.A.S.D. event. The demo version showed off some beautiful pixel art graphics and some rather spiky combat, and we were keen to see what the folks at Retro Forge Studios and Dear Villagers had up their sleeves with the full game.

Kao The Kangaroo

UPDATE 24 November 2022: Since our review, the team at Tate Multimedia has been hard at work introducing new bug fixes as well as paid DLC. Whilst the game has largely been fixed, we won’t re-review the game but we have taken the decision to review the DLC and new updates HERE.

Ratchet And Clank: Rift Apart

Eight years. That’s how long it's been since the last new entry in the Ratchet & Clank series. Outside of 2016’s PS4 remake of the first game, I have gone a whole console generation without stepping into Insomniac Games’ crazy universe where a Lombax and a tiny robot team up to save the galaxy. Insomniac seemed to recognise this and, as the PlayStation 5 era gets underway, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has burst onto the scene to not only cure that near-decade long itch, but to showcase the power of the fancy new console. I originally played through the game on its release but a year on since release, it’s time to present my thoughts on it.
